The King Firm - Where Justice Reigns

No Win. No Fee. No Worries. Only Pay When We Win.

Three serious looking men

The King Firm

Serving Since 1973

When you're hurt, injured, or scared, you don't want a court jester-you want the King. With over $300 million won for clients and a 99% success rate. The King Firm is here to fight for your justice and help you rise again.

This law firm has dedicated itself throughout the years to the representation of injured and illegally wronged individuals. The firm does not represent insurance companies or corporate interests. The primary focus has been on mining accidents, wrongful death, personal injury, car/truck wrecks, defective products, personal and consumer fraud, workers' compensation, and industrial accidents. There is no fee for an initial consultation, and the firm averages at least 20% of its total time to pro bono advice, consultation, and representation.

In the early years of Jimmy King's first law firm, Wilson & King, a decision was made to deliver high-quality legal service to those who were not able to afford it. This commitment has carried forward to The King Firm. Many hours of legal work are performed by our lawyers each year, for which no fee is ever charged.

Throughout the years, the firm has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and multi-million dollar settlements. With the addition of Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques (ADR), the firm has been an innovator in this area and has mediated hundreds of cases successfully from 1995 to the current date. The use of videography, computer animation, and highly trained and qualified expert witnesses has created a success rate at mediation of 95%.

The King Firm's attorneys are actively practicing in most counties of Alabama, including Walker, Marion, Winston, Fayette, Cullman, Tuscaloosa, Morgan, Jefferson, Lamar, Colbert, Lauderdale, Etowah, Limestone, Pickens, Marshall, St. Clair, Blount, Shelby, Greene, and Montgomery. They also practice in the Federal Court in Alabama and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

James C. King

Senior Partner

James Coleman, fondly known as Jimmy, is the King himself. He was born and raised in Walker County, Alabama. The son of a coal miner with one brother, four sisters, and a niece who lived with them. Jimmy has been serving the people of Jasper and surrounding areas his whole life. In elementary school he attended Central Elementary, that later became Jasper Junior High. His formative high school years were spent at Walker High School, later to be known as Jasper High, where, as an accomplished athlete he played football, baseball, wrestling and basketball. And he’s an Eagle Scout. Speaking of being an athlete, Jimmy has completed 7 full marathons, dozens of 10k races, and has ridden thousands of cycling miles in and out of competition.

After high school, Jimmy attended the University of Alabama where he was pre-med and earned his B.S. in Biology in 1973. He also earned sufficient credits to qualify for degrees in Chemistry and English. During that time, he worked as a clinical laboratory and x-ray technologist. While in law school, also at the University of Alabama, Jimmy excelled as a legal student. His sharp mind for the law earned him top grades in numerous courses like Legal Ethics, Worker’s Compensation, Labor Law and Torts. He won awards including top scores in the school’s Moot Court competition. Mr. King graduated with his J.D. from Alabama in 1976, and that year passed the bar exam, becoming the first lawyer in the entirety of his family’s history.

Jimmy started his career with a local lawyer, Robert T. Wilson. 18 months after beginning his practice, Jimmy made partner at the new Wilson & King, and the history of The King Firm officially began. In 2026, Jimmy began his 50th year in the practice of law. He’s seen dozens of attorneys and partners come and go. But in all that time, the name King has stood resolute as a beacon of justice for its clients in Alabama. He has been a leading strategic innovator in plaintiff representation in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia. In his 50 years of practice, Jimmy has won over $300 million for his clients, and his work continues to this day.

Jimmy is the husband to the lovely Nicole King. He has four beautiful daughters, Tara, Ryan, McKenzie, Hannah. He also has 3 grandchildren who are his pride and joy. Jimmy is a voracious reader and lover of history, poetry, and biblical study. In his free time, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his wife at their home in Superior, Colorado, walking, biking, and traveling as a family.

J. Wesley Meidl

Trial Attorney

Wes joined The King Firm in May of 2023 as a law clerk where he learned the ins and outs of fighting for his clients. He passed the Alabama bar exam in September of 2024 and became an associate attorney with the firm. Wes has a passion for serving the people of Alabama and helping them through what often prove to be the toughest times of their lives. Fighting for justice for his clients has become his life’s work.

In 2017, Wes received his B.S. degree in criminal justice with an emphasis in homeland security from The University of Mississippi. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Austin, Texas where he took a job as an insurance broker, specializing in middle market farm and ranch coverage. But practicing law had always been his dream, so in 2020, he decided it was time to go for it. Wes graduated with his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2024.

Outside the office, Wes enjoys spending time with his wife Brooklyn, their new daughter, Scottie, and their French bulldog MooShoo Pork. As an avid sports fan, you can usually find him cheering on the Green Bay Packers, Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Nashville Predators. He also attempts to golf and loves to grill out and enjoy a cold beer with friends. Wes and Brooklyn are members of Mountaintop Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.

Hunter G. Davis

Trial Attorney

In August 2025, Hunter joined The King Firm as a law clerk where he quickly immersed himself in the world of personal injury. As an Alabama native, hailing from Limestone County, he is very familiar with the small-town feel of Jasper. You might say Walker County feels a bit like home. And that’s one of Hunter’s motivations for serving this community. His background in hard work started at home, where, as the son of an auto mechanic, he learned to show up, be straightforward, and take care of people. And he’s got a wide range of real-world experience to back it up including aerospace industrial quality control, financial administration for a medical magazine, and a youth soccer coach.

Prior to law school, Hunter received his B.S. in Sports and Fitness Management from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2022. He then attended Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, earning his J.D. in 2025 and passing the Alabama Bar Exam later that year.

When he’s got free time, he plays soccer, loves to spend time with his wife, Melissa, an attorney in Birmingham, and grilling out with friends and family.

J. Caroline King

Law Clerk

In March 2026, Caroline joined The King Firm as a law clerk, bringing with her a blend of legal training, discipline, and a commitment to serving real people with real problems. Raised in Tuscaloosa, she understands the rhythm of life in Alabama’s smaller communities, and that familiarity makes Jasper a natural fit. The sense of connection and knowing how people look after one another is a major part of what motivates Caroline’s work. Before joining The King Firm, she gained additional experience in intellectual property prosecution and technology commercialization, sharpening her precision, writing discipline, and ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.

Caroline earned her B.S. in Digital Art with a computer science concentration from Stetson University in 2020. She then attended the University of Kentucky’s J. David Rosenberg College of Law, earning her J.D. in the Spring of 2024 and passed the Ohio Bar Exam later that year.

What to Expect

Whether you are already a client of ours or just considering our firm to help you with a problem, the pages in this section are intended to give you a better understanding of the litigation experience.

Our Role

At The King Firm, our role is to take care of your legal needs and protect your legal rights. When we are working on your case, we put our entire effort and attention into this process, as we do for all our clients. For this reason, we may not always be available to take a call when you need us. However, each lawyer has one or more legal assistants, one of whom is completely familiar with your case. If the lawyer handling your case is unavailable when you need them, ask for the legal assistant handling your case. If they cannot fulfill your needs, they will get you and your attorney together at the earliest possible moment. If your need is not urgent, you might want to consider sending your request by email. (The email address of each attorney and his or her legal assistant is located in their profile) If your request is sensitive, we will call you with the answer.

Your Role

It is impossible to remember everything your lawyer has told you that you can do to preserve your rights as the case continues through the system, so we have provided much of the more important general information in this section. Feel free to come here as often as you like to refresh your memory and to better understand the process.

What to Expect

Whether you are suing someone or being sued, a lawsuit is a complicated legal process, and it can be full of unpleasant surprises and frustrating delays. Don't forget, there are at least two parties to every action, and that means the scheduling and the events which take place can be out of our hands. Nonetheless, some things happen in the same order in most litigation, and you can at least get a general idea of what's likely to happen.

You will begin with an initial, no-cost interview with one of our lawyers, who will evaluate your complaint to determine if there is a "cause of action," sometimes referred to as "grounds." Simply put, this means there is a legal basis for filing a lawsuit. The attorney will then explain your options to you.

If a lawsuit is filed, there are several things you will be called on to do and much behind-the-scenes work to be done by your attorney and legal assistants.

How Long Will It Take?

A lawsuit can be time-consuming. They can last from a few months to several years. There is really no way to predict in advance how much time it will take. Since the law firm is financing the cost of your litigation, we are motivated to move your case along as quickly as possible.

Because your case may last awhile, we are providing this website as a vehicle to help keep you informed. You can make an inquiry anytime by submitting an email request to the legal assistant handling your case.

Alli B.

Jasper AL

My name is Alli. When I was 16, I was involved in a car accident late on a Friday night as I was heading home from hanging out with my friends. It was one of the scariest moments of my life and left me hurt and afraid to drive for quite some time. When I called The King Firm, they spent a bunch of time with me so they could understand not only what happened during the accident, but how I felt and how my healing was coming along. They worked diligently on my case and fought for the justice I needed to move on with my life. Their hard work led to a successful resolution of my case. I would send any of my friends or family members to Jimmy King and his team because I know they will be in the best hands.
